Long rows of music in our living room

I'm back to Italy so our plans to decorate our home have to wait, again! Luckily,  we managed to organise a bit of D's cd collection before leaving: the idea is to arrange it in three long lines in our living room but, at the moment, we have only one line completed because we had to order the other shelves and they haven't arrived yet. In the meanwhile, I added some "bits and pieces" that were all around the house.
Maybe I'll be able to steal some room in the future for them as well! ; )

Contemporay loft in Italy

The loft belongs to Marcello and Maria Pia Zappador Ruggerini, partners and co-founder of the Italian Architecture Office Amorfo. The project is the result of a renewal of a countryside house located between Reggio Emilia e Modena, in the centre of Italy.
All material are left in their "natural status" : metal stairs are not painted , concrete wall and floors are  not treated, stone elements are untouched. They also placed a great attention in choosing the design objects, with most of the lighting pieces being great Italian classics ( Flos 265, Artemide Teti lamp by Vico Magistretti, Achille Castiglioni's Parentesi) and seating by Charles and Ray Eames.

Inspiring diy: lamp tube

I've just seen this DIY at Annaleenashem and I had to share it straight away: she is amazingly good at these things! It's a tube lamp made out of a poster roll: you'll need to add a lamp cord, a 2 watt bulb (she recommends not to use a more powerful one or, in case, keep the bulb outside), a bit of black tape a scissors ...
... Et voilà!

Moodboard: It's a soft pink day

It's a grey, rainy day today here, in Barcelona: in need of a few drops of tenderness!

Inspired: Interior designer Joanna Laajisto's home

I've discovered about Joanna Laajisto's work while surfing Pinterest: here you can see the previous post. Her style is very personal and I like it so much I digged a bit more in the net to find more information about this amazing Finnish Interior Architect. Here are the pictures from her home that appeared on EmmasDesignBlog last february: a photoshhot taken by Joanna's husband, Mikko Ryhänen, and published online there for the first time. Some of these pictures have become a reference for us while renovating our rental flat, like the one with the bookshelves, or the one from her hall or the bedroom.

Arrivederci Venezia

Tonight I will leave my parents' home to go back to Barcelona. I miss my Venice a lot but I cannot really complain about my new city. We still need to get to know each other for real.I leave you with some images taken by Gianni Berengo Gardin.

Moodboard: copper is on fashion

Our flat is part of a 1920s building in the Vila de Gracia, Barcelona. Because of all our travelling, we had to arrange the viewing separately: it was weird to enter what could be our future home without my husband. But, as soon as we both took the first step in, we knew that was THE PLACE. It had the characteristic old mosaic tiles (called suelo hidráulico in Spanish), white walls and doors, and very high ceilings. I loved it immediately. The windows were large, letting lot of light to come through and they opened on a good-sized balcony where I could see all my plants growing luxuriously. Another detail I loved was that the copper pipes were still visible: buildings had no heating at the beginning of last century, so they had to add the installation later on.

I like the warm reflections of copper because they remind me of my parent's home back to Italy and all my mum's stories about her grandma's one, with lots of copper pots hanging from the ceiling. Moreover, it seems that this year Interior trend  IS copper: everybody is in love with this material, as you can see from the moodboard, from Danish Hay to Tom Dixon.
I'd like to add something more made out of this material, as an accent to the room but I'm looking for something a wee bit more contemporary: something with copper and concrete will do it. If it's DIY will be perfect. I just need to find the perfect thing now!
